last-week-on-social-september25

Thanks for checking out Last Week on Social, the blog series dedicated to providing a simple way to stay on top of the latest news and announcements from each of the major social media networks.

Every week, we round-up the latest updates from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Vine, YouTube, and others that may impact the way you use social media networks for your business.

For the period of September 19 – 25, here’s a breakdown of news from last week on social:

FACEBOOK

Dynamic Ads for Retail

Dynamic ads can now be created based on local store location’s product availability, pricing, or promotions. These ads provide people with the information they may need to make a purchase, including: local availability, product summaries, showcasing of similar products, and enabling a variety of actions such as contacting a local store, buying online, or saving products for future reference.

Store Visitation Ad Optimization

Launching next month, advertisers will be able to optimize ad campaigns based on store visits that build on the geo-targeting of local awareness ads.

An Explanation for Miscalculated Video Metrics

Roughly one month ago, Facebook identified an error with how the video metric for average duration of video viewed was being calculated. Since, they have rectified the error and have offered the linked explanation and apology.

TUMBLR

Live Photos

Tumblr now supports Apple’s Live Photos on the web, and on its app, and have open sourced the JavaScript for others to support this format as well.

TWITTER

Native Ads for App Installations

Native ads are now available for advertisers running mobile app install campaigns on the Twitter Audience Platform.
