Thanks for checking out Last Week on Social, the blog series dedicated to providing a simple way to stay on top of the latest news and announcements from each of the major social media networks.
Every week (two weeks in this case), we round-up the latest updates from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and others that may impact the way you use social media networks for your business.
For the period of February 6 – 19, here’s a breakdown of news from last week on social:
Facebook has made a number of changes to how video plays in the News Feed; most notably, videos will now auto play with sound on (users will have the option in settings to turn sound off for auto play videos). You can read about other small changes by following the link.
Businesses can now create custom profiles in Direct Messages for customer service agents, and for bots. Custom profiles were built to enable businesses to provide a more personal experience when dealing with human customer service agents, and make it clear to people when they are dealing with a bot.
Creators with more than 10,000 subscribers now have the ability to live stream from a mobile device, and the feature will roll out to all users soon. Super Chat will also be available for mobile live streams.
Instagram and Pinterest had quiet news weeks with no announcements worth reporting.
As always, if we’ve missed something, please feel free to bring it to our attention in the comments.
